THE BOOK

Brian Robert Setzer, James Robert McDonnell and Leon Drucker were three neighbors of Massapequa, a small town in the county of Nassau, in the state of New York, who shared an excessive fondness for music playing and for the pioneer artists of the  r & r. They started an incredible adventure that will forever change their lives and the lives of many fans. In June of 1980, after gaining a reputation in the local scene, they flied to London, attracted by the explosion of the rockabilly genre. They only had the intention of spending the summer. Surprisingly, a few weeks later appeared on the cover of the influential New Musical Express magazine and some members of the most famous bands (The Clash, The Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols, The kinks) came to see them and were shocked by their music, their aesthetics and explosive live concerts …

TESTIMONIALS

" When I found out that no biography had been written on the Stray Cats up to this point, it was hard for me to believe it. I don´t know how other publications about the Long Island trio would have been, what I do know is that this is a "huge" story, not only because of the length of the book, almost 500 pages, which are passed like a sigh, but the skill as the author has managed to assemble the story of the band with the social and musical context of that very interesting time. It was the only way to understand what repercussion the Cats had in those years and why they are and were a cult band from it´s origins in Massapequa to the present day. Thank you to the author for this fabulous story, without a doubt you have left a mark!

"Difficult to interview and not very collaborative with the biographers, unlike the Ramones, who have as many biographies as fans, what we know about the band are four hackneyed facts that are common in every report ... until the arrival of this book. Forty years since the origins of the band have been necessary for a brave man to accept the challenge of making it come true. A biography as intense as it is extensive to connect the dots, be surprised, enjoy it and even get pissed off at some point "
